Your research deserves to reach international readers as clearly and precisely as your original manuscript was written, but communicating science in English requires much more than just transferring words from one language to another.
Understanding context, medical or scientific terminology, and the logic of a research article is essential to prevent part of the meaning from getting lost in translation. This is why mastering the target language is not enough to ensure that your research will reach your international audience: a deep understanding of the science that lies underneath the manuscript is an absolute must.
My scientific training and research career in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Molecular Virology provide a robust scientific background that allows me to understand and work with highly specialized content in biomedicine, the life sciences, and related areas.

Specialized translation
The first step is creating a draft of your manuscript in English.
My work starts with acquiring an overall understanding of your manuscript, paying special attention to ideas and terminology, to convey the meaning in English as faithfully and precisely as possible.
When the content is highly technical or very specialized, I take the time to thoroughly understand the notions that underpin each term, since this is essential to find the most suitable phrasing in the target language.

Precise and coherent
The second step is to check the translation, comparing it against the original manuscript to make sure that all content has been transferred to the target language correctly, completely, and coherently.
This is when I check the translation thoroughly against the original text, and I make sure that:
I have not introduced any errors
I have not omitted any content
I have succeeded in maintaining the original meaning precisely
I have used the correct terminology, consistently throughout the manuscript
I have thoroughly checked all data, numbers, units, abbreviations, and references
A careful process
A scientific paper contains a great amount of information in a relatively short text, which means that every term and linguistic choice are highly relevant to convey the meaning correctly.
Terminology, ideas, and the way results are presented have to be strictly coherent throughout the manuscript, in addition to being consistent with their established use in the corresponding scientific discipline.
The following workflow — in which you will be playing an important role at all times — is designed to ensure the highest quality and to produce a translation of your manuscript that measures up to the original:

Natural and fluent
The third step is adapting the new text to the standards of scientific communication in English.
Every language has different conventions. Hence, this step requires putting aside the original text and working on the English version to revise writing, syntax, and style, so that they fit with the standards of scientific communication in English without changing the meaning of the original.
The purpose is to allow the reader to focus on the research content without being disturbed by unnatural wording or Spanish interferences that may impair comprehension.

Independent revision
The final step is for the English version to undergo an external and independent revision by a native English reviewer.
A second look will identify any issues that may have been overlooked during the translation process. In addition, having this revision step carried out by a native speaker ensures that the text will read clearly and naturally in the target language.
Once I receive the reviewer’s comments, I make sure that no language changes have altered the scientific meaning of the original manuscript.
At the end of this workflow, I deliver the final version of the manuscript in English, so that you can check the result and share any comments or request the changes you consider necessary.
Before concluding the project, we will work together on any changes that need to be made, so that the manuscript fully responds to your needs.
